Forest Act: harvesting regulations (Austria)
Description
The Forest Act (1975), amended in 2002, is the most important legal source concerning forests. With the amendment of 2002, the Forest Act now includes a general commitment concerning sustainable use of the forests in the sense of Resolution H1 of the Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe, consolidating the intentions of the sustainable forest management (Austrian Forest Programme 2007, Quadt et al. 2013). The Forest Act regulates the collection of non-wood forest products (see section on Public access and harvesting rights).
