Description

The Law on forests of the Republic of Serbia (2010) indicates rules for the entrance in forest and the rights of harvesting NWFP. Article 20 of this Law determines forest management plans, which, among others, include the project of other forest products’ utilization. This plan shall be adopted for a period of five years and should include the location, total reserves, type, quantity, time and method of use and value of products (Art. 32). The law requires that utilization of NWFPs could be done only with the permission of user of state forests or private forest owner and only in accordance with the project of utilization (Art. 62).

As stated in the article 51, “....the citizens shall have free access to forests for pleasure, leisure, and recreation at their own responsibility for safety, and with the obligation not to inflict damage to the forest”. However, this free access can be restricted in certain situations: in “...the protected parts of forests or the forest parts in which human safety is endangered” (Art. 51). Forest owner or user are obliged to “...mark with visible warnings the forest part with the restricted access” (Art. 51). According to the article 53, „…hunting plan documents shall be in accordance with the Regional Development Plan, Forest Management Plans and Programmes”. In the same article is also stated that “...intensive rearing of large game in fenced areas of the forests in which the regeneration process is underway shall be prohibited”.
