Description ?:	The Legislative Decree No. 227 of 2001, in accordance with article 7 of Act No. 57 of 2001, is the main normative reference, representing the Forest Framework Law. It aims at conjugating the national forest policy with EU and international commitments based on sustainable forest management and multifunctionality. Under this law, the Regions must create and review periodically their forestry plans, which should handle the aspects of protection, improvement and development of the forestry sector, without any prejudice to the guidelines formulated by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies and the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea.
